The Water of Leith Half 2025 – What a Blast!

Gin, Grit & Good Times at the Water of Leith Half

What a Saturday morning that was! 219 runners lined up for the 26th edition of the Water of Leith Half Marathon on 27 September, and you brought the energy from start to finish.

Aren’t we lucky to have the Water of Leith pathway meandering through the city? At just the right length, it’s like nature designed a half marathon just for us. Cheers, Mother Nature.

This year, we moved the race forward to autumn. Yes, it was a touch busier on some stretches compared to our November slot, but given the floods and storms we’ve faced over the years, we think September was a winner. And the marshals agreed – no frozen fingers this time.

The Race Highlights

Prizes went to the first finishers in true handicap style:

🏆 Jonathan Laing (first male) and

🏆 Laura Causley (first female)

Both took home a magnum of Lind & Lime Gin plus a distillery tour voucher – not bad motivation to cross the line first! (See photo above ⬆️)

Powered by Gin & Caffeine

Speaking of which, this year’s event was supported by our friends at Lind & Lime Gin (cheers!) and Caffeine Bullet, who are giving all Blast Runners 20% OFF everything with code BLASTPB. Perfect for that wee boost in your pocket.

Giving Back

Together, we raised £562 for the Water of Leith Conservation Trust, taking our four-year fundraising total to a fantastic £2,103.50. Every step helps keep our beautiful river path looking its best – thank you!

Marshals, Medals & Memories

A massive shout-out to our nearly 40 marshals and our legendary tail cyclist Kate, who kept everything safe and flowing.

Photos by Mike Taylor and Michael Philp are now live – go find yourself, tag us, and relive those finish-line smiles.

And yes, the medals were made by Zero Waste Medals – sustainable, stylish, and ready to show off.

Results

The results are up on our website now. Reminder: the WOL Half isn’t a measured course or a Scottish Athletics licensed event, but it’s a belter all the same.

Well done everyone – it was a BLAST. Same again next year? September’s looking like a keeper.
