Fast Feet at Fettes: Two Course Records Fall

Sundowner 5k Series start line at Fettes College

125 runners. Two new records. One brilliant night.

The second event of this year's Summer Sundowner 5K Series delivered another brilliant evening of running, this time on the grassy sports fields of Fettes College.

With 125 runners taking on the course, the field was split almost exactly 50:50 between male and female runners, including two under-14s and three runners aged over 70. A proper Sundowner crowd!

And what a night for course records.

Kyle Richardson stormed round in 17:14 to set a new male course record, while Meg Ellison of Belgrave Harriers claimed the female course record in 19:17. Two seriously speedy performances on what proved to be a tough little 5K around the Fettes playing fields.

But the Sundowner Series isn't just about the fastest runners. Whether you were chasing a PB, enjoying your first 5K, returning to running, or simply there for the evening atmosphere - well done to everyone who got round.

One more Sundowner to go

There's still one more chance to join us before this year's Summer Sundowner 5K Series comes to an end.

We're heading to Inverleith Park on Wednesday 9 September for the final event of the series. Expect another fast, fun 5K, a great evening atmosphere and, hopefully, another sunset.

A little help from our friends

Corstorphine First Aid was on hand to patch up a grazed runner or two, our brilliant marshal crew kept everyone heading in the right direction, and our 13-year-old photographer was out capturing the action.

Westwoods Health Club hosted us for the evening, led the warm-up, and gave every runner a two-month pass. Not a bad little post-run bonus!

Thanks to everyone who ran, marshalled, photographed, warmed up, patched people up, and generally helped make the second Sundowner of the summer such a good one.
