Looking for the ideal 20 mile marathon training run? 20 Along the Forth is perfectly timed for runners preparing for a 2026 Spring Marathon or ultra marathon. At 20 miles, it’s the sweet spot to test your fitness, pacing, and endurance before the big day.
This isn’t just another training race—it’s also a fundraising event for The MS Society Scotland. Every mile you run helps support vital research and services for people living with multiple sclerosis.
The route begins at Cargilfield School, then winds through the scenic Dalmeny Estate, into South Queensferry and across the iconic Forth Road Bridge before heading back to Barnton. Expect around 75% tarmac and 25% runnable estate roads with 1,150ft of overall undulation. Don’t worry—there are no big hills! Please note there are no road closures for this event.
Water stations will be at miles 5.5 and 14.5.
The route is fully marked and marshalled.
