Race the Tram: A Thrilling First!

What a day we had! Our very first Race the Tram event took place on Sunday, 22 June, and we’re still buzzing from the excitement.

A massive well done to the 136 runners who took on the challenge – racing the Edinburgh tram from start to finish. And what a race it was! By the looks of things, we may have made it a little too easy this time... so don’t worry, we’ll be upping the ante next year to give you more of a challenge!

This event wasn’t just about speed – it was about the joy of running, the power of community, and coming together to do something a little different. The energy was fantastic from start to finish, with plenty of smiles, support and a real sense of camaraderie.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make it all happen. Our brilliant event crew – Susie, Lesley, Richard, Ava, Callie, John, Matthew, Gert, Izzy and Charlotte – kept everything ticking along beautifully. Even without a formal route, we still needed marshals and support, and you were all amazing.

A big thank you as well to:

  • S1 Developments, who generously provided water, cereal bars, and those fabulous coasters for our finishers.

  • Patina Edinburgh, who welcomed a very hungry and thirsty group of runners after the race – thank you for your hospitality!

  • The Parabola building, for letting us use your fantastic facilities.

  • Edinburgh Council, for giving the green light – even if it was at the eleventh hour (we won't lie, that was a bit stressful!).

And last but absolutely not least, a heartfelt thank you to Alan Glynn, who nominated our brilliant charity partner for this event – Meningitis Now. Thanks to the generosity of our runners, along with matched donations from S1 Developments, we’re thrilled to announce that the event raised over £1,000 for this important cause. Alan, your tireless work behind the scenes continues to inspire us.
