Inverleith 5K Series 2025

Sundowners, Sunglasses & Sprints – That’s a Wrap on the Inverleith 5K Series!

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Inverleith Sundowner 5K Series over May, June and July. What a way to spend a summer’s evening – sprinting (or strolling!) through the park, soaking up the sunshine and finishing with an ice cream in hand.

Wednesday’s final race saw a record turnout – sunshine clearly brings the speedsters out! You lot smashed it, and 47 of you even completed all three races – that’s some commitment to midweek miles.

As always, the event wouldn’t happen without our superstar marshals: Issy, Kuan, Richard, Callie, Ava, Fergus, Charlotte, Leslie (and shoutouts to John, Kathryn and Joanne from earlier races too). You cheered, pointed and clapped your way into our hearts.

🏆 Results & Winners

Full results – and all the age category heroes – can be viewed on the race results page.

Our overall series winners were crowned at the prizegiving:

  • Oliver Jackson took 2 minutes 23 seconds off his time across the series

  • Jenna Smith made a whopping 5 minutes 46 seconds improvement!

We did double-check for time-travel devices – all above board, honest – and they each went home with a pair of stylish Sonaterra sunglasses.

And a big cheer for Esther Pullen who set a new female course record in July with a zippy 19:23!

💚 Fundraising total: £332!

Thanks to your generosity, we've raised £332 for the Friends of Inverleith Park to help build a much-needed new children’s play park. Every pound will go towards making the park more playful for the next generation of Inverleith legends.

👏 Special Thanks

To Westwoods Health Club for their energising warm-ups – the only time lunges have ever made us smile – and for their fab competition (check the results email to enter and maybe win a 3-month membership).

And a big thank you to the Edinburgh office of FNZ Group for supporting the series – and to Ed Brinkman, who first suggested this brilliant idea back in 2022. We’re very glad he did.

That’s all from us for now – until next time, keep running, keep smiling, and maybe keep chasing that course record (or the ice cream van). Hope to see you at the next running event.

Much fun. Thanks for all the races .... Have a great restful August.
