EVENT INFO

Registration

All participants must collect their timing chip and race number, we have 2 options for you:

1. Friday 20th March, 5 - 8pm at the Movie & Pasta Party, Cramond Kirk Hall, Cramond Glebe Road, EH4 6NT (you do not need a pasta party ticket to collect your race packet). Pasta Party tickets are still available here. (MORE INFO ON THE MOVIE & PASTA NIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS EMAIL OR FOLLOW THE LINK.)

OR

2. Saturday 21st March 7.30am - 9am in the sports hall at Cargilfield Prep School, Gamekeepers Road, Barnton, EH4 6HU

You will be given a timing chip to wear on your trainer and a race number (plus safety pins) to put on your running top.

For safety reasons please do not swap shoe chips with other participants, if you are involved in a medical situation we can use your chip information to get you the help you need. IF YOU ARE TRANSFERRING TO ANOTHER RUNNER - please tell us by Monday 16th March as we need this info locked into the timing system, you must not give your place to someone else without letting us know in advance.

Bag Store

Unsecured bag storage will be available within the school sports hall. The race organisers take no responsibility for any items stored before, during or after the race. However, a member of the team will be in the area for the duration of the race.

Race Briefing

There will be a race safety brief given to all runners 5 minutes before each starting wave. If you have any questions please just holler before race day to hello@blastrunning.co.uk

Start times

The event has 3 wave starts and you can view your wave grouping HERE.

You may NOT change groups without first checking with me or the chip timing will not work properly for your run and you risk being disqualified for giving me an admin nightmare! Give me a shout at hello@blastrunning.co.uk if you are desperate to change your wave but this is only for pacing changes - not to allow you to get home earlier. Sorry but I must be strict about that as it puts our marshals, water stations and first aiders in a fix if you are far too quick for your group, being slow is not an issue but if you turn up at a marshal point or water station far earlier than expected for a slower paced group then it causes problems. Genuine mistakes about how quick you are forgiven :) but by this stage in your training, most folks know their average pace pretty well.

8.30am for runners who intend to run the route with some walk breaks and may take 4 to 4.5 hours to complete it. This is a 12 - 13.5 minutes per mile / 5hr 15min to 6hr marathon pace.

9am is for runners who are aiming between 3-4 hours for completion, which is 9 - 12 minutes per mile / 3hr 55 minute marathon to 5hr 15min hour marathon pace.

9.30am is for runners who are aiming for less than 3 hours completion time, which is 6 - 9 minutes per mile / 2hr 37 min to 3hr 55 min marathon pace.

Race Route

20ATF2026StravaRoute

It is a gently undulating but scenic and quiet course winding along the Firth of Forth from Cramond through Dalmeny Estate, then over the Forth Road Bridge and back before returning on a slightly different route to Dalmeny Estate, the finish line is back at Cargilfield School.

It is at least 75% on tarmac and we would suggest that road shoes are more than adequate for the surface conditions. The remaining surface is very runnable and not technical at all. This is entirely your decision to make.

There are no closed roads for this race, this means you must stick to pavements outwith Dalmeny Estate and please take care when crossing roads, your road safety is your own responsibility.

Please follow all instructions from our race marshals as they are there to ensure your safety. If you decide to not finish you MUST let one of our team know and hand your timing chip in.

Water Stops

Water will be provided at the start/finish line plus at miles 5.5, 11 and 14.5  but please also ensure you have enough fuel for your race as required.

If you can carry your own bottle all the better but we will provide reusable cups too, which you just throw in the trugs once you've finished your drink.

Earphones etc

You are permitted to wear bone conductors but not noise cancelling headphones or earbuds, this is for your safety as there are no closed roads on the route. Please look at the marshals as you are passing them in case you miss an important communication from them.

Supporter Locations

There are many fun locations on the route for your family and friends to support you. We can suggest the following for ease of transport, proximity to coffee etc..

1. Cramond Brig, parking at Millar and Carter restaurant

2. 30 Knots restaurant, opposite the RNLI buildings, South Queensferry, parking at New Halls Road.

3. Bridge View, parking at the FRB Bridge Control car park

4. Dalmeny Village, lots of free on street parking.

Littering

All of our marshals will have black bin bags for you to throw your empty gel sachets etc into. There will also be bins at the water stations. Deliberate littering will result in instant disqualification as we are so lucky to use this beautiful route.

Race Finish

The race will finish at the Cargilfield School.

Race Limit

1000 runners

First Aid

Fife Medical will be stationed at the start/finish line with a support vehicle on standby at the Forth Road Bridge to come to a runner's aid should first aid be needed. If you come across a fellow runner who needs emergency medical attention please do not hesitate to call 999. However, if a first aider is more appropriate then you will find the race director's number on the front of your bib, 07905167695 and the first aiders will be dispatched. If you have the app What3Words on your phone, then this is very helpful in locating you quickly.

Car Parking and Public Transport

There is free car parking available to runners within the school grounds and surrounding streets. There is also the beach car park, less than a mile's warm up to the school, at the bottom of Cramond Glebe Road, EH4 6NT and smaller car parks at the bottom of School Brae and the bottom of Brae Park Road.

It is very important that we do not block our neighbours' driveways.

The Sunday bus to and from Cramond is the number 47.

Toilets

We have access to the toilets within the sports hall and there will be portaloos by the start line. There are also public toilets in South Queensferry at mile 6 and 14 (just on your left along from the rail bridge towards South Queensferry, opposite the RNLI).

Age restrictions

In accordance with Scottish Athletic guidelines, participants must be age 18 or above on the day of the race. If you or your young runner are under 18 and have entered then please get in touch with us at hello@blastrunning.co.uk to chat it through.

Dogs

Unfortunately our insurance will not cover runners running with your four legged friends, this includes therapy dogs apart from Guide Dogs.
